Overview

RelayHealth began by allowing a physician to offer electronic consultations to his or her patients. The company's software integrates into physician electronic medical records software, and into Microsoft HealthVault PHR software.

Products and services

The company's website handles the consultation between physician and patient. The physician registers his or her office with RelayHealth, RelayHealth integrates their website with the physician's medical records software and the physician chooses which consultations to accept from patients. The patient can then initiate any of these consultations by entering symptoms and medical history. The physician can either solve the patients problem by offering advice or a prescription, or ask the patient to come into the office for examination and testing.

Business model

The patient is charged a fee for each consultation. Some insurance companies pay part of this fee to encourage patients to use electronic visits instead of more expensive office visits.
