# **Why Integrate Rapidly**

In a large-scale health crisis, speed and clarity are critical. Integrating your hospital or organisation’s systems with Patients Know Best (PKB) ensures patients get the correct information at the right time — without delays, confusion, or unnecessary appointments.

## **What Integration Achieves**

By connecting your existing systems to PKB, you can:

- Share test results directly with patients — no phone calls, face-to-face appointments or letters required
- Send appointments digitally — reducing confusion and missed visits
- Keep patient details up to date — helping teams work from accurate, consistent information

This improves patient safety, increases efficiency, and supports remote care during high-pressure times.

# What Can Be Shared

### Patient Records

You can automatically create and update patient records in PKB using your existing patient list. This means:

- No need to manually create accounts
- Everyone who needs access can be included from the start

Your technical team will connect your patient database to PKB to send basic information like name, date of birth, and contact details.

### Appointments

PKB can receive appointment details from your hospital systems so that:

- Patients know when and where their appointment is
- They can see their appointment details online or via the PKB app
- Cancellations or changes are shared quickly and clearly

This reduces confusion and improves attendance rates — especially when postal delays are a risk.

### Test Results

Lab results (e.g., blood tests, infection screenings, imaging reports) can be sent directly into patients’ PKB records.

This enables:

- Fast and secure access to results from home
- Reduced call volumes to clinical teams
- Greater transparency and peace of mind for patients

## How the Integration Process Works

Your IT team will handle the connection, supported by the PKB integration team. Here’s what the project steps look like:

1. Confirm your PKB Organisation is set up
2. Connect your systems to PKB's test environment
(PKB will provide login details)
3. Send sample data for testing
Your IT team will send dummy patient records, appointments, and test results
4. Review and approve
Once everything looks correct, PKB gives the go-ahead to go live
5. Go Live with real data
Patients start receiving their information through PKB

This can be completed in as little as 2–3 weeks with a focused effort.

## Role of the PM

To manage the rollout:

- Coordinate between your IG, IT and operational teams
- Help unblock delays (e.g. prioritising data access or approvals)
- Keep comms teams and clinical leads aligned on what patients will see
- Plan patient communications to let them know what’s coming

## Support and Next Steps

PKB provides full support through your assigned Success Team member. You'll also have access to templates, guidance, and our integration specialists as needed.
